The Great Success of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee River Pageant
Last weekend proved to be a very proud one for Thames Luxury Charters and Chris Livett in particular. Millions watched from the banks of the river Thames and from their homes as over 1000 boats made their way down the River in celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
The successful celebration of the Queens 60th year on the throne was the culmination of over two years of hard work by the Pageant organising team. Chris Livett was part of the organising committee and dedicated an enormous amount of his time in making sure the pageant was something that would cement itself in British history. It did not disappoint, the only thing Chris and the pageant team couldn’t control was the weather unfortunately!
Chris had the privilege of being a guest of Her Majesty on board the magnificient Spirit of Chartwell for the pageant(pictured). This was an enormous honor and just reward for all of the hard work. Below are some thanks from close to the Royal Household:
What an incredible achievement by a phenomenal team of talented, committed, enthusiastic and inspired individuals, working together in pursuit of a shared vision. You should all be immensely proud of what you have achieved and I urge you never to underestimate the iconic nature of the Pageant, which has captured the world’s imagination.
Edward Young, Deputy Private Secretary to The Queen, and responsible for the entire Jubilee said “Her Majesty was delighted. Very seasoned hands in our press office say they cannot remember a day that got such amazing coverage”.
William Nye was even more effusive on behalf of our patron The Prince of Wales. Others said: “the nation is in your debt… the triumph of today’s Thames Pageant surely ranks alongside D-Day as a masterpiece of British ingenuity, planning and flair”. Many others named it “the ultimate experience of a lifetime”.
You are all remarkable. It’s been tough at times, and always exceedingly complex but it all unfolded as we hoped, and that is testament to you all.
I hope you all feel that it has been a rewarding experience. Thank you so much for making Britain feel Great again.
